The new Ponte Manzoni inaugurated
The new bridge over the Adda River was officially inaugurated on Monday, January 19 and is now in operation along the SS36 highway. The bridge was opened to traffic ahead of schedule, with a total construction time of just 18 months from the approval of the Final Design Variant.
The inauguration ceremony was attended, among others, by Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini and the President of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana. During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the strategic importance of the project for the local area and for improving connections within the Lecce infrastructure system was highlighted, particularly in relation to the Milan–Valtellina corridor.
For Steel Project Engineering, this milestone also represents the completion of a comprehensive technical journey covering all the design activities of the project, from design review through to construction planning.
In particular, Steel Project Engineering was responsible for:
-
the Structural Final Design Variant of the bridge and access ramps, on behalf of Aleandri S.p.A., the main contractor;
-
the erection and launching design of the steel decks, on behalf of MBM S.p.A., the steel structure manufacturer.
This technical contribution was developed with the aim of ensuring high design quality, construction reliability and full alignment with site requirements and operational commissioning.
Our heartfelt thanks go to all the members of the project team and to the companies that placed their trust in us during this extraordinary journey.
